I had an account with them a couple of years ago. They didn't have the shows I wanted, so I cancelled. A week ago, I resubscribed through their iOS app. Somehow, their system got mixed up, however, and even though my apple ID e-mail and my e-mail on the original britbox account are the same, they didn't get connected, so when I tried to log in to watch anything, it didn't treat my subscription as real. I e-mailed their "customer service" a week ago. No response. I e-mailed them again. No response. I reached out over twitter, they promised an e-mail response and then didn't actually do it. I called them, and then sat on hold for 20 minutes listening to idiotic cutesy hold chatter until they threw me to an answering machine. I finally gave up, and am disputing the charge with apple. These people seem to just be interested in stealing people's money.

I gave a gift of a years subscription to a family member who loves British murder mysteries, which came in the form of a redemption code. Sounded like such a great gift idea. After she received it, she was unable to redeem it, as they demanded that she give them here credit card information for an auto-renewal. Months and many emails later, she's still not able to redeem the gift, what a complete scam! I didn't read the reviews here, but I really should have, sounds like even if she had been able to redeem it's not at all as advertised. Will be asking my CC company refund the money if I can.

I do like the programing but the one…

I do like the programing but the one thing that drives me crazy is that there is no way to delete the "continue watching" segment. All contact with BritBox says that "they are working on it." This has been going on for 2+ years. Programs that you watch completely are sometimes still listed as continue watching. If you watch something for 10 minutes, and decide it is not for you, it stays there.
Anyone have an answer? You used to be able to go to the last episode, play it and then it would delete the whole program. Since they recently re-vamped the site that no longer works,

Disgusted

Despite contacting Britbox twice I have received no response from my request for a credit for my 30 days free trial. The money was taken from my account as soon as I subscribed, & did so every month until I cancelled after 3 months.
Also, not interested in paying to watch reruns of reruns.
Joke, & a rip off.

Flakey downloading.

Twice in the last couple of weeks I could not start up Britbox on my Samsung TV for a whole evening. I could also not start up iPlayer or ITV Hub. Netflix, AppleTV, Prime Video all worked so do the UK services share a common server?

Brit laggy, won't keep you signed in, useless Box

The worst streaming site I have ever used. You can't sign in even when you are a paying customer. This is another example of the losers at the BBC. They can't even run a simple streaming site or app. Go back to the drawing board losers.

Absollutely the WORST interface/app ANYWHERE

The worst app/interface I have ever used = and I used iPlayer on the first day of it's trial in October 2005
I have given up trying to use the app on my LG Smart TV, or on Amazon Fire TV Stick - no genres for looking by type such as Drama, Comedy, Documentaries/factual,
Search function is absolutely unusable
It's incredible that this service owned by the BBC and ITV, both of whom have excellent Smart TV apps (iPlayer & ITV Hub), and yet they cannot share their technology with BritBox...
Then there is the paucity of documentaries - if you want me to pay for it, then put BBC Horizon on there, alongside TimeWatch, TimeShift, and some StoryVille - why not look back into ITV Anglias back catalogue and include ITV SURVIVAL SPECIAL - which isn't available ANYWHERE!
- Why not include the history documentaries that the BBC has output in the last 5-10 years or so... surely they're not all restricted by being broadcast by PBS in America?
I cancelled my membership - I'll stick with what's free on ITV Hub, iPlayer, All4 (which ALL have excellent interfaces/smart tv apps), and pay for the decent apps like Netflx, Now TV, Amazon
Plus there's always youtube!

BBC should be scrapped

A corporation that has used bully boy tactics for years to get their licence fee. Then squanders it , and feeds the nation a diet of pc/sjw crap and endless repeats. And then has the nerve to make the licence holders to pay again to watch the shows they have already funded on britbox! Pay per view funding needs to be forced on them!

BBC content chargeable??

I've an issue with the concept. BBC programming is paid for by TV licence so paying for it is simply wrong. It should be in iPlayer and simply available for those who have TV Licence. Bearing in mind any ITV content was paid for by ads it's a total rip off imo.
Service itself works ok though search function doesn't actually search hence the 2 stars. This may work for those with a rose tinted view of old and often awful TV from yesteryear but I don't have that view. Granted the last point is my opinion only. I had a look but not impressed enough there to follow through and buy.

Same happened to me with regard to my parents. On the phone with a service representative I was told they must have a [another!] credit card -- I responded that they already had mine, and had already charged it. I told him they did not need a credit card, that their bosses at the b******* Broadcasting Corporation we're simply telling them so. AWFUL! AWFUL! AWFUL!

Because they want upfront money and want to automatically charge your parents for their "gift". I've contacted the FTC and my state attorney general as I refuse to give them my CC info and they are keeping my daughters money.

Don't know for certain, but I know Acorn TV no longer supports Samsung smart TVs as a change in Samsung's operating system makes it impossible for Acorn to update their app. I just spoke to Britbox's office in NYC, and they said they would be supporting Samsung in the near future. I'd recommend you calling before you sign up (if any of you haven't yet) and for those who have, I'd recommend calling and determining when exactly it should be available and how you get credit for the portion of your subscription that was unusable.

It is almost impossible. I have been trying to cancel directly with them for weeks. I have resorted to filing a Visa Cardholder Dispute

BEWARE. If you subscribe I suggest subscribing via Amazon where you can cancel under Amazons "manage my subscriptions" page. Been trying for weeks directly with BritBox with no success. I have resorted to filing a Visa Cardholder Dispute. Good luck to you!
